Northeast Forest and Fire Management, LLC and/or its owner maintains the following licenses, certifications, registrations, and memberships:

A native of Southeastern Massachusetts Mr. Carlson completed a Bachelors of Science in the field of Forestry with a Wildlife Biology minor at the UMASS, Amherst and attended the graduate program of Forestry at the University of New Hampshire. Prior to entering college he served 4 years of active duty in the US Marine Corp, following which he served an additional 17 years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

During Mr. Carlson’s more 20 years of experience in ecological management, forestry, and fire management he has worked for multiple organizations including: Massachusetts Department of Conservation’s Bureau of Forest Fire Control & Forestry (Chief of Forest Fire Control/Deputy Bureau Chief of Forestry), Nantucket Conservation Foundation (Prescribed Fire Manager), The Massachusetts Chapter of The Nature Conservancy (Fire Manager), University of New Hampshire’s Woodlands and Natural Areas Program (Woodlands & Natural Areas Manager), Harvard Forest (Research Technician), and the Town of Amherst Volunteer Fire Department (Volunteer & Call Firefighter).

Mr. Carlson is also currently engaged in a number of other professional activities including: The Association for Fire Ecology’s Outreach Committee, The Fire Effects Information Systems’ Advisory Committee, and as a faculty member the National Advanced Fire & Resource Institutes Advanced Fire Effects (Rx510) course.

While employed over the last 20 years, Mr. Carlson was qualified in the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) wildfire and prescribed fire positions: Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2), Advanced Firefighter/Squad Boss (FFT1), Fire Effects Monitor (FEMO), Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5), Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4), Firing Boss (FIRB), Engine Boss (ENGB), and Prescribed Fire Burn Boss Type 2 (RXB2).

Northeast Forest and Fire Management, LLC is a fully insured business, registered in the federal Central Contractor Registration System, qualifies as a small business, and is veteran owned and operated.
