Cape Cod Air Force Station Prescribed Burn Information |

Site Access, Meeting Location, and Staging Area General access to Cape Cod Air Force Station is controlled. See the below maps for the tentative location to access the faculty. The specific meet time and location will be sent in the crew burn notification email.
Communications Radio frequencies will be identified on the day of any burn. Northeast Forest and Fire Management, LLC’s frequencies are as follows; primary frequency - 151.670 and tone - 91.5 (transmit and receive for frequency/tone) and Secondary frequency - 151.970 and tone - 91.5 (transmit and receive for frequency/tone). Unless otherwise registered with the FCC the use of these frequencies is only authorized during Northeast Forest and Fire Management, LLC prescribed burns.
Food/Water and Personnel Protective Equipment Drinking water will be available. Crew should bring their own food and extra drinking water.
All crew should bring appropriate non-synthetic clothing for anticipated weather conditions, appropriate leather boots, all leather gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and a canteen of extra drinking water (preferably 2). If Personal Protective Equipment (aramid/nomex outer wear, fire shelter, and hard hat) is available and/or a radio with the frequency(s) listed below please bring it. Limited PPE (aramid/nomex outer wear, fire shelter, and hard hat) and radios will be available for those who need it.
Resources (Equipment and Crew) One to two Type 6 or 7 Wildland Engines, one Brushbreaker, hose, and pumps are requested in addition to five to ten crew (crewmembers/holding bosses/ignition boss) are requested. Variations to the additional crew and equipment needs will be outlined in burn crew notification emails.
If sending crew or equipment be sure to coordinate with Joel Carlson prior to the burn. Email to Joel Carlson your name, agency, number of crew being sent (preferably list names and highest qualification of each person), number and kind of equipment, and provide a cell phone number.
No special equipment or PPE will be required, except for that which has already been prearranged with individuals/agencies.
Experience Requirements and Training Opportunities All participating crew must have at a minimum S-130 and S-190 training or be an active member of a municipal fire department. In addition to NWCG qualifications other agency qualifications will be recognized (i.e. Fire Department qualifications).
Training positions may be available dependent on conditions and the availability of qualified individuals to serve as evaluators. Individuals that are interested in serving in a trainee position need to discuss the possibility with Joel Carlson prior to the morning briefing, and/or prior to the burn day. |
